Don’t count your eggs!

October 25, 2007 · Filed Under house · 1 Comment

As the old saying goes, “Don’t count your eggs before they hatch.” The process of buying a house has been a very long and in depth process. I lost count of how many time our lender has told me, “Hey, Steve you’re all good to go.” Then the very next day, call and ask me for additional documentation on something or ask me several questions containing to something that happened seven years ago. Then today I find out that our closing is on the 30th of this month and not the 31st. Not that this is a bad thing. So the moral of this post, don’t assume anything until you have it in your hands. Once we have the keys to the new house in our hands we will be happy, but until then…. anything can change.

Wireless Blogging

October 25, 2007 · Filed Under General · Comment

So I’m sitting outside of Renaissance Theatre blogging from my car with the new Verizon wireless broadband adapter and I love it. They promised broadband like speeds and so far it’s lived up to the hype. I have been surfing blogs and posting on mine without any problems thus far. I have yet to get my Blackberry bluetooth modem to work yet but the adapter card works great.

Busy

I couldn’t think of a better title than “Busy”. That is the best word to describe my life at this moment. We are still in the process of packing the house for the move next week. I am also in the middle of another play. We are doing Macbeth and I am doing sound and lights for this show. This week has been tech week so I work all day and right after work head over to the theatre then head home for some sleep. I wake up and do it all over again. No, I’m not complaining I’m just letting everyone know why I haven’t updated as much lately. No, the blog is not going to die again like to last twenty or so blogs have done. I’m just busy and haven’t had as much time to spend blogging as I would like. Check back later today for more updates.

Buy It Now

October 23, 2007 · Filed Under General · 2 Comments

Ebay defines “Buy It Now” as:

Buy It Now is the simplest way to buy on eBay. It allows you to buy an item when you want it, at a known set price.

If you are a guest, you can use Buy It Now, but you are limited to two guest eligible purchases.

When you see the icon next to a listing, or see a Buy It Now price listed on an item page, the seller gives you the opportunity to purchase the item right away without waiting for an online auction to end.

So why would someone click “Buy It Now” if they had no intention on buying it now? I listed my motorcycle on Ebay yesterday and later in the evening I got an email from Ebay stating that someone bought it. I contacted the guy via email and heard nothing. I then called him and he seem somewhat stoned. Later this evening I received a call from his wife stating that he was not getting the bike and I was not getting a single cent of her money. Then why the hell did you click, “Buy It Now”? Now I get to relist the bike and hope to get my money back from the previous listing.

NaBloPoMo – National Blog Posting Month

November is NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month). Since I feel that I have found my blogging groove I am trying to drive additional traffic to my blog. One of the suggestions that I have gotten from Zoot is to participate in NaBloPoMo. The whole idea is that you basically post every day in the month of November, that’s the only requirement. Other bloggers that participate in NaBloPoMo are more likely to visit other participants sites as the main NaBloPoMo site has a list of all sites participating. Also, there is a blog directory that will aggregate content daily if you can get enough votes. I need your votes. Please click here and vote for my site so that my daily post in the month of November will be read by others and help me drive more traffic to Digirati Dad.

Pumpkin Carving

October 20, 2007 · Filed Under General · Comment

Ronda, Scout, and myself decide to get in the Halloween spirit and carve some pumpkins today.

My Pumpkin  Ronda's Bat Pumpkin

While Ronda and I were carving, Scout was mostly playing with Miss Maudie and playing on her gym. She did however get in the spirit by learning to say the word, “pumpkin”.

Random Flashback

October 18, 2007 · Filed Under General · Comment

PillsFor some reason or another when I woke up this morning I had this random flashback about Army basic training. One thing that I think about often is the six random pills they gave me when I got off the bus at basic training. I remember it like it was yesterday. I left my hometown of Killen, Alabama on a greyhound bus headed to Atlanta, Georgia. I was 17 and had never traveled alone. From Atlanta I flew to Oklahoma. Once I was in Oklahoma I followed the random signs pointing new recruits to the “staging” area, a term I heard very often from that point. Once in the staging area a random guys comes along asking if we were headed to basic training at Fort Sill, we all replied yes. So we load up on the bus and it takes about hour and half to get to Fort Sill. We pull up and sit for a few minutes. Then the door to the bus opens and a very large guy comes on the bus and just looks at us for a minute, then all the sudden he start yelling, get off this fucking bus right now. I see people tripping over each other trying to get of the bus because this guy starts grabbing our belongings and throwing them off the bus along with any small guys he could pick up. As soon as you get off the bus there was another guy with cups of pills yelling at you once again, “take the damn pills shit brick”. I took the pills as I feared for my life. To this day I wonder what those six pills were and what affect have they had on me.
