Acura Cups

So just the other day I was talking about the great customer service I get from Acura. Well, the story continues. Today the mailman brought the mail to the door because it wouldn’t fit in the mail box. It’s a box from Acura!

Atlanta

They should call Atlanta the city of pot holes. Every street has a pot hole about every mile. Along with a homeless person about every mile as well. I find myself dodging pot holes and homeless people every time I’m there. It never fails that when I’m in Atlanta some homeless person walks out in front of the car and I have to slam on the brakes. I always ask myself what happens when I actually hit one of these people? And this is just one of the many reasons I would never want to live in Atlanta.

Virtualization

So today I’m heading to my data center in Atlanta to setup the first of many virtualization clusters. We have spent a lot of money in new equipment, software, and training. Now it’s time to put everything together and virtualize our data center. We are starting with six Dell R805′s. These servers have 8-cores, with 64 GB memory. So these are not your average servers.

Basically for the non-tech visitors to my blog, we can now use one server to do the task of what ten or more servers use to take. Plus we save on power and space. So this is a good thing.

Smoke Damage

November 5, 2008 · Filed Under General · Comment

This morning the downstairs still smells like smoke. Our clothes, furniture, all must be cleaned to get the smoke out. And now that the smoke is leaving we are dealing with soot. After showing the pictures to our insurance agent they have asked us to file a claim. There is a lot of damage and most of all just generally a big pain in the ass to deal with. ServPro is coming by today to start cleaning the inside of the house. Tomorrow contractors are coming by to look at the damage caused on the outside.

So to anyone asking friends or family for help around the house, DON’T. Have a professional fix that leaking faucet. It will save you money, time, and a headache.
