The Madness
Ok, my site has been down for two days. Why? The data center in Atlanta, known as GNAX went down Wednesday. When it went down, it brought all its host down with it. My servers at 451 Press went down and my personal servers. I have seven (7) servers hosted with Dixie Systems and four (4) personal servers hosted with Jaguar PC. All but one server hosted with Dixie Systems came up before I even knew they were down. But, it didn’t take long at all for Dixie Systems to have that one server back up and running. Now, Jaguar PC on the other hand is a different story. To keep this short, it took Jaguar two days to get my servers back up after I submitted multiple tickets. Once the servers were finally up, I realized that I had lost everything on my server that had my blog, Ronda’s blog, and Scout’s blog.
After much work and digging, I was able to recover most of my blog and Ronda’s blog from my own back-ups. I was not however able to recover anything from Scout’s blog. Ronda’s has a post about it at her site.
I don’t know if I should be pissed at myself or Jaguar PC? All I know is it sucks to lose your site. All I can say is backup, hard drives are cheap and most computers these days hold gigabytes. I am putting some type of backup system in place this weekend to backup the sites daily. Until then, please pardon the mess.
